Wild Bird Release, Part 1

Carly brought a bird through the pet door. I kept it in a cage for about 12 hours and *tried* to release it. I’m hoping within a week there will be a part two to this. I *think* this is a “Song Sparrow”. It’s the most common bird coming to my bird feeder in the front yard at the moment. I’ll eventually do a High Definition bird feeder video but so far I’ve not had enough of a variety of birds to warrent a video.

Now that I’ve seen part 1, I can move on to part 2 and watch the rest! He’s a lucky little bird, thanks to you. Sorry about your shoulder. I share your pain; I know your pain. :)

I might have to draft some help on the garden this season. My shoulder is in fair shape but if it’s ever going to get back to anything resembling normal I’m going to have to quit using it so much for a good many months. I build that cage for my bird rescues several years ago. I’m going to have to put some smaller wire on it. That’s not the first bird that’s popped through it.

Oh im glad i started in the right order. Cant wait to see if the little guy makes it! Those cats, are certainly poised for attack. What a great cage you at least attempted for it. Goodto see ya showing us stuff again, and sorry bout the shoulder. Hope your pain subsides, so the garden season will be great again! :D

As we speak (type) my dog is sampling the honey nut cheerios I’m eating LOL Go figure!!! She likes them!!

  5. Blinkazoid says:

Hehehe, I was referring to the bird, although my cats love free eats as well. However Suzy seems to think there’s some sort of magical food out there somewhere that she’s not sampled yet. She begs everything I’m eating and won’t stop until given a sample, (no matter what it is).

  6. dorotwhy says:

Are you referring to the bird or the cat? LOL

  7. Blinkazoid says:

I figure my cats are fat enough already, LOL.

  8. Blinkazoid says:

He was certainly a BIG fan of the free eats, LOL.

  9. dorotwhy says:

Cecil says, “Let me at ‘im, let me at ‘im!!!!” Poor baby can’t fly Awe… maybe the was just happy with the free eats :O)

Ah poor birdy. Good thing you found him before he became a cat snack.

  11. Blinkazoid says:

It’ll probably wind up like most of my ailments. I’ll muddle through with it always hurting but still semi-usable and no danger of being sawn off or falling off. My muscles joints and tendons were put together with inferior glue I think.

The release was Monday afternoon. It didn’t go as well as I’d hoped:( I’ve got it all filmed but need to edit. I should have it posted before Tuesday evening.

  12. MamboDogFaceOne says:

Oooh, lordy! Take care of that arm Blink! Don’t want them to saw it off, now do we??

Hope the release went well and s/he’ll be singing to you from the trees!

  13. Blinkazoid says:

Thanks Dannie. I think my shoulder will take months to fully recover. Thankfully it doesn’t hurt hardly any at rest. It’s just that I get twinges of pain when I use it much. Broken bones heal faster than tendonitis I think. The bird on the other hand I’m sure will fly tomorrow. I’ll point several cameras at him in the hopes one will get a good shot of the take-off.

  14. dl737 says:

Poor bird – but at least she has you looking out after her. Good luck to you both on the next attempt. And hope you tendinitis gets better!!

  15. Blinkazoid says:

Thanks Grams! He seems to be doing great so far and is on schedule for another release try on Monday. On Saturday he hopped up on a little perch I made him in his cage.

  16. Blinkazoid says:

    Thanks Chesterfield Rob!

  17. GramsandPapi says:

Hope the little fellow recovers soon and the next release goes better!! Blessings, Grams

  19. Blinkazoid says:

Yeah, Suzy is plenty fat enough already:) He’s a fiesty little guy (or gal) and still doing well. He’ll be fine so long as he doesn’t start bouncing around in his cage and hurt himself. He’s eating a LOT. His next scheduled release date is Monday. I was going to do it Sunday but it’s going to be cool and rainy so Monday should be better for him.

I’m so glad you got the little thing back before Suzy had breakfast. Poor little thing. I hope s/he heals soon!!!

  21. Blinkazoid says:

Getting old’s a bitch! Then your arms (or some other body part) fall off! My doc told me that sometimes this particular tendon will actually snap in half where it goes through a tunnel in the shoulder if it gets bad enough. They don’t even bother to fix it because it’s a surgery that’s never successful. Kinda scary sounding so I’m taking it easy.

  22. Blinkazoid says:

Yep, Suzy stares out the window at the bird feeder in the front yard all day long and often is all tensed up and whiny. I’m sure her blood pressure is sky high while watching them.

  23. Blinkazoid says:

Yep, Suzy is great little *helper*!!! She’s been staring out the living room window at the bird feeder for weeks and finally decided to volunteer her services:)

  24. PappyStu says:

    Isn’t getting old fun?

At least we are doing it together…

  25. PappyStu says:

Cats sure do get intense around birds
