We have a fat little cardinal that returns year after year. I know its the same bird because he has a routine…when the blue jays sound the dinner alarm.. he comes and perches on my dog’s kennel. He waits for the bluejays to leave then he eats the dog food. He’s the only cardinal I see with a smaller brown bird….and i think the even smaller birds are chikadees..they are soo cute.

They look awesome like that… heh, they have mohawks XD

  8. taburineagle says:

Yep! With the little tuft-crest on their heads all the way up!

  9. NukeTheMongoose says:

yeah I love seeing pictures of Cardinals in snowy places and they’ll sometimes be all fluffed up with snow on them XD

Cardinals are very beautiful, especially against a backdrop of snow – they really stand out! I like bluejays too, they’re each “colorful” in their own way, it’s interesting how some of them tend to blend in with their surroundings (mostly sparrows) – cardinals *definitely* stand out!

  11. taburineagle says:

Thank you! I need to get out and do some more shots of them soon – :) I love parrots too!

  12. NukeTheMongoose says:

he sure is a beauty ^_^
I wish cardinals come were I live, the birds that I see the most are finches, sparrows, mourning doves, mockingbirds, anna’s hummingbirds, a few scrub jays and some others… the colorful birds seem to live on the east side xD

  13. mrmixjay says:

the most beautiful bird I ever see! ( after parrots )

For this video, I used a Sony DCR-VX2000 camcorder, on a Bescor MP-101 motorized panhead, the camera hooked up to a DVD recorder and using a LANC controller to control the zoom and focus.

  15. taburineagle says:

Me too – they’re very pretty birds!

  16. taburineagle says:

Very cool! I haven’t been watching the cardinals that closely around here, but it would be awesome to keep tabs on a family like that!

  17. taburineagle says:

Thanks! This video is before I started shooting in HD, and it’s also before YT had high quality uploads – which is saying something! :) I should get some more video of the feeder sometime this spring.

You can really see the details..

  22. taburineagle says:

You’re welcome! Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you liked it! I really need to do some more birdfeeder shots now that I have my HD cam – if only it were a bit more hospitable weather-wise lately… :)

  23. azreaya says:

he is beautiful aaaahhhhh i love this one thankyou peace be with you always

  24. taburineagle says:

Yes! Definitely! I have yet to capture a shot of a male cardinal against a snowy backdrop, but they stand out beautifully against such a scene! My favorite birds are gulls, something some people don’t agree with (:D), but cardinals are extremely awesome birds!

  25. bos78 says:

Cardinals are my favorite birds. I like seeing them in the winter against the snow and the bare trees.
