  1. This lasted two summers until the squirrels figured out that gnawing the plastic seed catcher on the bottom would cause all the seeds to fall out. The good part about this is that it kept the squirrels intrigued long enough for me to be able to shoot them. This definitely prevented repetition, one squirrel at a time.

Our squirrels are much too smart for this feeder.

    It is being returned today.

  3. doesn’t work that well. Seed doors stick one way or the other and seed gets wet.

It really does keep the squirrels at bay which is quite an accomplishment . The birds don’t seem as enthralled with this feeder however , that is why the 4 star instead of 5 star rating . Overall , I would recommend this feeder .

I used this feeder for about 18 months. While I don’t have much of a squirrel problem, I do have a problem with the larger birds (grackles mostly) hogging the sunflower seed. This seemed to alleviate the problem.

The issue I had with the feeder is that the little roof does not have enough of an overhang. When it rained, the seed in the tray got soaked, then clumped together, then I had to pry the muck out with a stick which caused all the remaining dry seed to pour out the newly opened holes.

I replaced this feeder with one that has vertical feed slots (Brome 1024 Squirrel Buster Plus Wild Bird Feeder with Cardinal Perch Ring). There is a whole lot more activity at the new feeder than there was with this one. Since this one is still usable, it’ll probably get donated to Goodwill.
