Brome 1015 Squirrel Buster Classic

I ordered a Squirrel Buster bird feeder for about $30.00 and the shipping was about $17.00 which I believe is excessive. I have written this review at least 4 times and you keep sending me messages for my comments. Please do not sent me any more messages.

The bird feeder works well and keeps the bird seed dry. No squirrls yet, just birds using it.

I puchased this feeder because of the continuous problems we were having with squirrels visiting the feeders with a different design. I had seen the Brome feeder in a bird store while on vacation so I knew the construction was excellent. It took a few days for the birds to find the feeder, but now there is quite a variety of regular visitors. We are not having the problem with squirrels that we had with our non-squirrel proof feeders.

So far so good! I live in a clearing in a hardwood forest and am frequently visited by a variety of hungry critters. Squirrels have emptied some other bird feeders in a day. After 1 month no squirrels have bested the Brome Squirrel Buster Classic, but one persistent one keeps trying. It has not yet found a way to shake the seeds out, in part because of the distance between the feeder and nearby vantage points. There is no evidence that a raccoon has tried the feeder yet. Chickadee, Titmouse and Nuthatch appear to approve of this feeder, but I have not yet observed Cardinal, Goldfinch, small woodpecker and Junco trying to use it, but they use other feeders with the same seed varieties. I do not think it is a weight-mechanism issue. I also observe more frequent agonistic behavior between birds on adjacent perches on this feeder, suspecting that the perches are too close together. I conditionally recommend this feeder to others who may have squirrel problems at bird feeders.

Brome 1015 Squirrel Buster works as advertised. On previous bird feeders, squirrels were feeding everyday. With the new Brome, I have not seen a squirrel since I put the new bird feeder up. And the birds love it as I fill it up every three days. Easy to fill – love it!
