I have hundreds of hummingbirds migrate to my feeders about 6 months of the year they are up – and I have several of these. I only wish you could unscrew it from the top to fill, instead of unscrewing the bottom. It never gets “full”. I always get sticky and screwing the bottom on upside down – usually results in a few spills – always a clean up afterward. I have to fill mine outside too, if you try to fill it inside and walk with it through the kitchen to get out – you will inevitably spill on the way.

  2. I purchased two of these to avoid filling everyday…I have a bunch of activity each summer. The problem is….. these feeders leak sugar water all over my patio. During hot weather the amount can be significant, up to a 1/4 of the capacity. Very messy

Please don’t waste your money on this feeder. The first one I received had a broken seal and liquid steadily leaked out. I received a replacement, and guess what? It too leaked – the FIRST time they both were filled. This is junk. No more Perky Pets for me, thanks. (I only gave it one star because this sight requires me to rate it – it does not even deserve that)

Once assembled this large feeder is a disappointment. The yellow “flowers” which you much click into the feeding ports don’t stay in, resulting in a large hole which admits insects. The feeder also sways a lot in the breeze, causing the nectar to run out. I would not recommend this feeder.

We have two 16oz feeders that the hummers drain in a day, and we had really hoped that replacing them with two mega 48oz bottles would give us a break from the daily cleaning & feeding cycle.

But alas, it was not to be. When full, the two new 48oz bottles leaked, with a slow but steady drip drip drip from the base that was a dinner bell for the ants.

So back they are going for a refund. We weren’t too crazy about the plastic bottle anyway, as above the water level it was covered with condensation. But we would have lived with that in tradeoff for a 48oz capacity.

We have ordered the Perky Pet “Best” 30oz size, it has a glass bottle, and hopefully it doesn’t leak.
